The coveted Blue Badge is awarded by The Institute of Tourist Guiding in recognition of guides who have reached the highest standards in tourist guiding.

To be awarded the Blue Badge – all of us have been trained over an 18 month period with over 300 hours of training and study and passed a range of written and practical exams. We also undertake Continuous Professional development to keep our skills at the highest level.

Blue Badge Guides are familiar with all aspects of Cumbria and the Lake District from its History, Archaeology, Geology, Industrial Heritage, Ecology, Architecture, Local Cultural Traditions, Farming and Agriculture, Literature and the Arts, and personalities who have played a part in Cumbria’s history or are… today.
