A warm welcome to my page, I would love to share my knowledge and love of Cumbria with you.

I am an experienced Blue Badge Guide specialising in driver guided tours for up to 6 people.

As a keen walker and inspired by the poetry of Romantic poet William Wordsworth I came to live in Cumbria in 1977 and I have never looked back. The outstanding natural beauty, the rich literary and artistic heritage and a fascinating history – Cumbria has it all. I have been privileged to guide visitors around Cumbria and the Lake District since then and I would love to show you around ‘the most beautiful corner of England’.

I provide customised tours for individuals and groups of up to six people in my Land Rover Discovery, enabling visitors to see over the many walls and hedgerows. I love taking people on and off the beaten track, sharing the stories and secrets of each distinctive area through its landscape, literature, people (past and present), villages and market towns.

Come and explore with me in my 4X4, delving deep into the valleys to unravel the layers of history from prehistoric times to present day. Stop to admire standing stones, stone circles, ancient chapels, evocative monastic ruins; see the very locations which inspired our poets, writers and artists; visit writers’ homes, castles, historic houses and gardens. See how people are making their living today; meet farmers, local food and drink providers, local artists and crafts people.

I specialise in tailoring tours to your specific needs, bringing out the features that most interest you. Tell me what you are interested in and I’ll ensure you make the most of your time here.

I’m always happy to include short walks or longer hikes along lake shores, through ancient woodland, by rocky streams, to impressive waterfalls, tranquil tarns (small mountain lakes) or simply to find a hidden gem! Walk in the footsteps of the poet William Wordsworth or the children’s writer, artist and conservationist, Beatrix Potter to experience what inspired them.

I am also a Blue Badge Guide for Yorkshire and North East England and I am happy to show you further afield across Northern England, be it along Hadrian’s Wall, the Northumberland Coast, the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and the City of York.
